Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a framework and proactive approach for assisting schools and districts, to build systems capacity for implementing an equitable multi-level approach to social, emotional and behavior supports. The broad purpose of PBIS is to improve the effectiveness, efficiency and equity of schools and other agencies to meet the whole needs of every child.
Outcomes
- Learn the six features of secondary/tier 2 interventions and the connection with universal/tier 1.
- Analyze current interventions and align to the features of secondary/tier 2 interventions.
- Create a plan for how the team will develop or refine a system of interventions to include:
- check-in check-out (CICO),
- modified CICO,
- social academic instruction groups (SAIGs),
- mentoring and
- brief functional behavior assessment (FBA) and behavior intervention plans (BIP)
- Create a plan to train, support and gather feedback from stakeholders including students, staff and families.
- Practice systems-level discussions and decision-making that include intervention effectiveness, assessment data, and simple modifications to support
Audience: Building leadership team should include a building administrator (required), general education teachers, special education staff, pupil services staff, and representation from tier 1 team.
Cost: $1600/team of up to 8 members; each additional member $200. Fee includes registration, technical assistance between training dates, materials and up to 6 hours of CESA support.
