Hmong

The University of Wisconsin Extension Hmong Summary Report surveyed Hmong adults and students about educational preferences. The findings reveal that in Hmong culture, students tend to prefer an in-person delivery method rather than electronic or remote delivery.

The report states that students tend to learn best through “classes or conferences and oral histories from elders, class projects, support groups, newsletters in both Hmong and English, Hmong mentors, audio tapes, high school clubs, and entertainment or plays.” The survey tells us that the community tends to prefer teachers who are Hmong or who have an in-depth understanding of Hmong culture. Hmong guidance counselors and other Hmong staff are recommended as well.
